Getting started
Welcome to FleetCommander
What the app is for, how its pieces fit together, and where to begin.
A new company gets a 30-day free trial with no credit card (sign up from the sign-in page). We then email you an activation link — click it to activate your account, then sign in (nothing works until you do; the link lasts five days, and you can ask for a new one on the page you land on or on the sign-in page). Once you're activated, a welcome email follows with the first steps and a tour of what the app does — it is sent only once. After the trial, Billing and your plan explains the price and invoices.
FleetCommander is the place where a school-bus company keeps everything about its buses, drivers and routes: who drives what, when each bus is due for service, which papers are about to expire, what money is being spent, and what needs attention today.
The big picture
Almost everything in the app connects through four things:
- Vehicles (the Fleet) — every bus and van, with its photo, number, papers, service history and costs.
- Drivers — the people, with their license, medical card, photo, fuel card and messages.
- Routes — a school run with its stops and pick up / drop off times.
- Assignments — the link that says this driver drives this vehicle on this route from this date. A route has one driver per run (a morning pick-up driver and an afternoon drop-off driver can share a route), and a driver or vehicle can do several routes a day as long as the times don't overlap.
Where to begin
- Add your vehicles under Fleet and your drivers under Drivers (or bring them in together with a CSV file — see Import).
- Add your schools and routes under Routes, then put a vehicle and a driver on each route.
- Set up maintenance schedules under Maintenance so the app can warn you before a service is due.
- Check the Dashboard each morning and the Compliance Center each week.
Tip: You don't have to fill everything in. Start with the vehicles and drivers, and add the rest as you go. The app only nags you about things you've told it about.
Who sees what
What you can open depends on your role (Super Admin, Fleet Manager, Maintenance Manager, Dispatcher, Accounting, Driver, Viewer, or a custom one your administrator made). The sidebar only shows the sections you may use. A Driver's app looks quite different from everyone else's — see For Drivers. See Users & roles for exactly what each role can do.
