Getting started

Finding your way around

The sidebar, the header, tables, filters, sorting, back buttons and the picture drop-downs.

The sidebar

The menu on the left lists every section you can use. Click the small panel icon at the top to collapse it to just icons (hover an icon to see its name) and click it again to expand. The app remembers your choice.

The header

The bar across the top of every page.
  • Search box — type at least two letters and press Enter to search vehicles, drivers, work orders and more. See Search.
  • Envelope (Contact us) — send a message to the FleetCommander team and see your earlier ones. See Contact us.
  • ? (Help) — opens this Help Center.
  • Bell — your notifications; the red number is how many are unread. See Notifications.
  • Your name and photo — opens My account, where you change your photo, style and password. Sign out is next to it.

Tables

  • Sort — click a column heading. Click again to reverse, and a third time to go back to the normal order. Sorting applies to every page of results, not just the one you see.
  • Search and filter — the boxes above a table narrow it down. Press Filter (or Enter) to apply.
  • Pages — every table pages: long lists show 20 rows at a time (reports 50), and the small tables inside a detail page (a vehicle's fuel, a vendor's work orders …) show 10. Use Previous / Next at the bottom.
  • Export CSV / Import CSV — many lists can be downloaded as a spreadsheet, and some can be filled from one. Exports follow the search and filters you have on screen.
  • Manage — on every list, the button with the settings icon at the top right holds everything for that list: add, import, export, and actions for the rows you tick with the check box at the start of each row (the one in the header ticks the whole page) — such as Edit, Archive or Delete. Those are greyed out until you tick at least one row. Something that can't be done is explained in a banner at the top. (Documents has just a red Delete button, greyed out the same way.)

Messages at the top of the page

When something needs your attention, a banner appears at the top of the page and stays in view while you scroll: red for an error (something couldn't be saved or done, with the reason), amber for a warning (for example, a vehicle that is still on a route can't be archived), and green when an action worked ("1 driver archived."). It stays until you close it with the × on its right, or until the next message replaces it. Form fields with a problem also show a short note right next to them.

Photos and files you upload

Every photo you upload anywhere in the app — a vehicle or driver photo, a receipt, a defect or inspection picture — is made smaller in your browser first (at most 2048 pixels on the long side), so it uploads quickly and takes less space; it stays sharp enough to read. Incident videos are compressed to 720p. PDFs, Word and Excel files are kept exactly as they are.

Files go straight to secure storage from your browser, so a big file uploads the same way as a small one: photos and documents (PDF, Word, Excel) up to 15 MB, incident videos up to 100 MB. When you choose a file on a form — a document, a fuel receipt, an insurance certificate, a defect or inspection photo — it starts uploading right away, with a progress bar and a green tick when it's done; press × to take it off again. If you press Save before it has finished, the form waits for the file and then saves by itself.

Back buttons

Detail, add and edit pages have a blue Back button at the top left. It always returns you to the page you came from in the app, and on pages with buttons at the top right (Edit, Delete…) it sits on the same line.

Picture drop-downs

Wherever you choose a vehicle or a driver, the list shows their pictures. Open it, and a small search box at the top lets you type a fleet number, a name or an employee ID to narrow a long list; use the arrow keys and Enter, or click.

A vehicle drop-down with its search box.
  • The list only shows the picture and name. If the vehicle you choose isn't available (out of service, in maintenance…) a heads-up appears under the box — it never blocks you.
  • Choose a vehicle that already has a driver and the driver is filled in for you, with a note saying why. You can change it.

Addresses

Address boxes suggest addresses as you type. See Addresses.

Styles

Pick one of six light or six dark looks in My account.
