How it's worked out
- Fuel per mile = fuel price ÷ miles per gallon.
- Every yearly cost (maintenance, tires, insurance, fees, the driver) ÷ miles a year.
- Depreciation = (purchase price − resale value) ÷ years you keep it, then ÷ miles a year.
Questions
- Why does cost per mile matter?
- It's the simplest way to compare vehicles, price routes and spot a vehicle that's costing more than it should.
- Should I include the driver?
- For pricing work, yes; to compare vehicles, leave it out (enter 0).
